Honestly, based on an article comparing Dodge Dart sales to Honda’s Civic, the advertising might not be working…but thought you would be interested in the Dodge Dart Registry

The concept is Kickstarter meets a wedding registry, where family members, friends, etc, fund a piece of the car till it’s paid for.  In theory, this should work well with high school and college students…although I haven’t seen any data to back that up.  Regardless, Goldenvoice has been doing a layaway plan for Coachella and Stage Coach Festivals and believe they do well with it.

So what do you think about crowd sourcing live event tickets?  Will it work?

Since you still haven’t seen a recap of Aspen Live 2012 yet (you can always read Lefsetz‘s take now, I figure we can combine the Pollstar and Aspen reports.

Are you going to be @ Pollstar?  This is not the year to miss as the keynote speaker is marketing guru and Aspen Live alum Seth Godin

Also, I’ll be moderating the “Nurturing Mid-Level Festivals” panel at 11am on Thursday, February 7th. Please join us as we explore how these festivals have competed and thrived while others have faltered.

Welcome to the first installment of The Weekend Roundup”.  Moving forward, this update will come out on Mondays rather than late Tuesday evening.  So here are some things to know.

Stage Coach Announces Line-upAEG Live’s Goldenvoice announced the dates, line-up and on-sale for its annual country music festival in Southern California.  The 2-day event goes on-sale this Saturday, October 28th @ 10am with artists including Brad Paisley, Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, and more.  For more information you can go to

How To Save VegasLast week, Wynn Hotels announced their 3rd quarter results.  The good news, earnings were up over 2010.  The not-so good news for Las Vegas, revenue was driven by their property in Macau.  Las Vegas non-casino revenue was up over 11% yet in the same period, casino revenue “the handle” was down. With all the Cirque shows currently in production, there is room for others (of course Wynn has Garth Brooks and Caesar’s/AEG Celine).  Since first opening as a tourists’ destination, Las Vegas has used live entertainment to draw guests to the city.  Maybe it’s time for more of us to step-up to the tables!

Agencies Working More Unsigned Artists10-years ago, it would have been hard to find a big talent agency working with an artist not signed to a major label.  Today in some cases, agents are driving artist development.  A good example is APA and Allen Stone.  Actually you can check out his performance this Wednesday, October 26th on Conan.  Stone’s album debuted on number two on iTunes Soul Charts last week…again with no major behind it.  You can get a preview of what you will hear on Conan @

Sports and Comedy Team-UpMiami Dolphins’ tight end, Anthony Fasano is working as hard off the field as on.  In his role as philanthropist, Anthony raises money for the hungry, family emergency services, autism and helping veterans returning from war…among others.  Saturday, November 26th, comedian and 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan will be performing  at the Fillmore @ the Jackie Gleason Theater to raise funds for “Rebuilding Together: Veterans Housing”.  The show includes 100 VIP packages where guests can share pre-show cocktails with members of the Dolphins.  Hopefully Tracy won’t tell too many jokes about the Dolphins’ current NFL record.

Live Nation’s 3rd Quarter Next Thursday, November 3rd, Live Nation will announce its 3rd quarter earnings.  Their summer should tell us a lot about the health of our business in general.  Like it or not, they are the biggest player by far.  To listen-in on the webcast you can register @
